Dr. Tom VanGundy
DVM, DACVS (Surgery)
Dr. Tom VanGundy is a board certified veterinary surgeon who has been in the field of specialty surgery for 29 years. His doctorate in veterinary medicine was followed by an internship and surgical residency, receiving American College of Veterinary Surgeons diplomate status in 1989. Since that time, he has been in private referral practice providing exceptional and thoughtful attention to patients in need of specialized care. He has strong interests in soft tissue (general, cancer, reconstructive) surgery as well as orthopedic surgery. A large portion of his case load relates to problems with the canine knee joint (such as cruciate ligament injury). Recognition of the power of the bond we have with our pets drives his ideals for excellence. He is very active in continuing education and professional organizations such as the Association for Veterinary Orthopedic Research and Education, American College of Veterinary Surgeons and the Veterinary Orthopedic Society. Knowledge, instrumentation and techniques constantly develop and he strives to incorporate new aspects into his practice. In his free time he enjoys fly fishing, travel and creative endeavors. His faithful golden retriever, Dumont, rides shotgun.
